Spurmont Works / Manufacturing
Shift recording,
loss review and handoff.
Spurmont Works is shift recording, loss review and handoff software for machine shops. Operators record what each machine made and why it stopped. Supervisors review the shift’s losses. The next shift picks up from a written handoff.
Who it’s for
Machine shops
and their shifts.
For machine shops where operators, supervisors and production managers record each shift, review its losses and hand open work to the next shift. The descriptions on this page come from Spurmont’s accepted product design; the application is not open for use from the Hub yet.
Operators
Record what each machine made and why it stopped, at the machine, as the shift happens.
Supervisors
Review the shift’s losses, classify stop reasons as they become known, close the shift and sign off the handoff.
Production managers
See expected against actual output across shifts and the recorded losses behind any shortfall.
Read-only viewers and administrators complete the set of roles.
What your team records
Each loss, kept separate.
Entries are made by hand at the machine, for example on a tablet. Works does not read data from machine controls.
- 01 / COUNTS
What the machine made.
Operators record production counts as the shift goes on. A quantity is only a quantity: it never starts a downtime clock.
- 02 / DOWNTIME
Why the machine stopped.
A stop is recorded first, as timed loss. The reason is classified when it is known; stops that are not yet classified, or whose cause is reported unknown, stay visibly distinct from confirmed causes.
- 03 / SCRAP AND REWORK
What did not pass.
Scrap and rework are recorded separately from counts and from downtime, each with its own entry.
What supervisors and managers see
Expected, actual and the gap.
Supervisors see expected output against actual output for the shift, and how much of any shortfall the recorded downtime explains. The software does not guess a cause for the remainder; it shows what was recorded and what was not.
A stop that crosses a shift change stays one incident, split by shift, so each shift carries its own share without duplicating the loss.
Closing a shift creates a fixed record. If something needs correcting later, the correction is added alongside the original, with the reason; nothing is overwritten.
The shift handoff
Written down, signed off.
- 01 / SIGN-OFF
The outgoing supervisor signs off.
The shift’s record and its open items are closed out by the supervisor leaving.
- 02 / ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The incoming shift acknowledges.
The next shift confirms it has read the handoff before it starts from it.
- 03 / CARRY FORWARD
Open items carry forward.
Anything unresolved moves to the next shift with an owner and a next action, rather than being lost between shifts.
What a trial evaluation involves
One account.
A separate access decision.
Trial requests are not open yet. In the planned Customer Hub, a shop will have a customer account that people create or join through an invitation. Only an account owner will be able to request a trial.
- 01
An account owner will request a 90-day trial from the Customer Hub, with the business name and how the business intends to use Spurmont Works.
- 02
Spurmont will review the request and record a decision. Customer account owners and members will not approve trials.
- 03
Approval will prepare access. The Hub will show the request and access status for the customer account.
- 04
The 90 days will start when access is ready, not when the request is approved.
Each customer account will be able to have one approved trial. Package purchases are not available yet; package terms and online checkout are being prepared.
The Customer Hub is being prepared. Sign-in, account creation, team invitations and trial requests are not available yet. Selecting the product does not open it or grant access.
